This is the subject of many harsh words towards many computers all across the world. Troubleshooting is just that, shooting down trouble with your computer. When things go wrong with your computer it is bad enough you loose time while it is down but sometimes even data is lost due to malfunctions. It is frustrating when programs don't work right or when your computers CD drive doesn't open, but most of all it is frustrating to not know how it happened or what to do to fix the problem.

Not all computer crashes are caused by hardware failure, like the modem getting surged with electricity from a storm or your hard drive going bad. Most crashes are caused by software that either has been corrupted or damaged. Software can be corrupted from several different ways. When the computer is turned off before being properly shut down, the hard drive doesn't get to finish writing important information about how the files on your computer are stored. This can cause software corruption, but it is not the only way this can happen.
